CELT (The Centre for English Language Teaching) is a specialised unit within the University which provides English language teaching and support for registered international students studying on all four campuses of the University.
CELT currently offers a 37-week Foundation Diploma in English for Academic Purposes at the Magee campus, an intensive Pre-sessional course in July – September at the Coleraine and Jordanstown campuses and in-sessional workshops in Semesters one and two on the Coleraine, Jordanstown and Magee campuses. CELT has held British Council accreditation for the past ten years, thus ensuring that the teaching is of a high calibre and meets agreed quality standards.
CELT also collaborates with schools and faculties within the University on curriculum development and monitoring of English language training programmes at collaborating institutions overseas. CELT is able to call on a register of highly-qualified and experienced teachers to help them out at times of peak demand.

The three permanent CELT Teaching Fellows are very friendly and approachable. They all have substantial experience of work overseas, including Europe, the Middle East and the Far East, and their work at the University brings them into contact with students from all over the world. Many of these students stay in touch with the staff when they leave Northern Ireland and keep us up-to-date, and we are always glad to hear their news.
We look forward to seeing you at the University of Ulster!
Anne Hagan (Coleraine)
Paul Morgan (Jordanstown)
Tom Hunter (Magee)
